I was at the beach the other day, and wanted to play with my cell phone camera. I have had the phone for over a month but have been too busy to see what it can do. Well for a phone camera it does a lot. I played with with several of options including panorama, HDR, and best shot.
I tried the pano feature without any expectation. I was pleased that it was very intuitive. I simply pointed the camera at the horizon and pressed the shutter. A little wind and bar appeared which let me pan to the right. If I moved up or down the diagram showed it making it easy to maintain a somewhat level base to make pictures from. Keep in mind I did not use a tripod. As I panned the camera automatically took two more images and put all three together. As you can see above, there are no easy tells that the image was stitched together. I am going to love using this feature as it is fun and fast. I am already too busy and spend more time in front of the computer than I want. The last thing I want to do is stitch images together in photoshop. With this camera, I can create the photograph and in no time at all share it with friends, post on Facebook, or use in a blog. I have decided to use my phone to make photos on future workshops as it is a fast easy way to share images.
If coming to Maui, give me a call and lets go make some photographs.
