Image of The Week – Into The Mystic

by Douglas Hoffman on April 27, 2021

This weeks image is titled, “Into the Mystic”. The location is the rocky shoreline in front of Wailea Point. The cove was tiny but what impressed me was the rock in the center and the water movement around, with each incoming wave. After watching for a while I decided to use a graduated Neutral Density Filter by Breakthrough Photography in order to manage the light so that a slow shutter could be used. My intention was to create silky surface around the rock. I get excited when I see things in my minds eye, and then create it.

Managing light is key to having full creative freedom. Filters help make that happen. If you would like to learn how to use filters to create stunning seascape images, consider a private workshop.
