Maui’s Famous Red Sand Beach

This beach is popular with the locals in Hana.  It is off the beaten track, and the trail is very arduous. You must walk along a steep cliff that has loose rock and poor footing.  This is not a place for the faint of heart to explore.

Be advised if you go there sometimes there are nudists.  If you should come across some please show respect and do not stare.   They are at the beach to enjoy Maui, and are not there to cause a disturbance.

This is one of the places best visited in the morning, making it hard to do on a regular photo tour.  It is a good three hour drive from Kahului, Kihei, and Lahaina. Or course it takes even longer if you stop along the way to create scenic portraits.  Those that really want to see this location in the best light should plan on spending a night in Hana.
