On-Location Portrait Services Families, Couples, Groups

Great photography is a process and involves much more than just showing up and taking pictures. Once a booking is made clients receive a planning guide.  As your portrait artist, there are things I need to know.  You see having portraits created is something most people don’t do often and it’s easy to shop based simply on price, rather than by need, desired service, or product. The thing is you never get a second chance. Taking the time to determine your needs before you get to Maui allows me to create the kind of portraits desired and create images that will take their place in your family's history. 

I want to know what style of portrait you're looking for.  For example, a traditional portrait is more about the people than the place and so they are larger in the portrait. An environmental portrait includes the people in the location and as a result they are smaller within the frame.  This style is very popular for those that desire a portrait to be displayed on the wall of their family home.

Another style could be capturing a moment for prosperity.  This kind of style has more animation and creates a different kind of emotion.  Consdier a group of people standing in a row and jumping into a blazing sunset and becoming frozen in the air with their hair askew.    

Every family is unique and has different needs when it comes to photographs.  Some want digital files in a vairiety of resolutions that they can keep as family history or print.   Many people desire Kodak style prints to give to family members, and put on the staircase of fame in the familly home.  Some clients want one or more canvas portrists for display on the walls of their family home.

Most portrait sessions are done at a beautiful beach on the south side in Kihei or Makena. The sunset views are excellent.  We will meet at the beach in the parking lot and walk to the beach and get started.   The best light is before just after sunrise and before sunset. Start times will change throughout the year as the sunset changes.
