Quality VS Quantity

Families that are looking for a photographer are faced with many choices. Regardless of budget however, everyone wants value for money spent. This raises the question what constitutes the best value. For some it’s the cheapest price. For others its getting the best quality. Rarely in life does one get the best quality for the cheapest price.

The majority of photographers these days have packages that are based on the number of pictures provided. The thinking behind this is that the more pictures included the better value. What perspective clients don’t realize is that they might end up with a lot pictures, but within that number there will likely be 8 – 10 of each pose.

As an experienced professional, I think that is a bit misleading. As a client, I think it’s frustrating and a disservice. A few years ago I hired a photographer to create portraits of me with my daughters and dogs. I was given a website with 150 pictures to select from. It was time consuming and frustrating. In my mind, when you hire a professional they know whats good and should select and present the best 3-4 images of each pose so the client does not feel sufficated by choice.

When I photograph a family I select the best 3 of each pose because I want the experience to be fun, easy, and memorable, not stressful or time consuming. As an experienced professional, I know how to select the best portraits and present them so that the client enjoys the experience and gets exactly what they want.

For families on a budget, I offer a simple package that includes 1/2 hour of coverage with 9 portraits in a drop box. I also offer an hour session with 18 portraits. Additional portraits can be purchased if desired. For families that desire a wall portrait, or are having a large family gathering I offer an ala carte plan that is catered to their needs.

I offer three plans because I believe everyone deserves great family portraits. To learn more go to www.douglasjhoffman.com
