You never know what to expect in terms of marine life, underwater visibility, current, or surge when you go scuba diving from the shore. You hope for best, and abort the dive when conditions dictate. I don’t mind diving in conditions where visibility is limited as it forces you to think small and look for macro like nudibranchs or frog fish.

That said I prefer days when the visibility is 50 feet or more and the sunlight dances on the sand, and you can see the underwater vista.

Watching life on the reef never gets old but some days are better than others.

If you have always wanted to try underwater photography join me for a private workshop either snorkeling or scuba diving. Includes a detailed lecture on diving and snorkeling, Maine life, safety, and photography.
