Maui Family Photography Portraits for Families, Couples, Groups

Great photography is a process and involves much more than just showing up and taking pictures. Once a booking is made clients receive a planning guide. As your portrait artist, there are things I need to know. You see having portraits created is something most people don’t do often and it’s easy to shop based simply on price, rather than by need, desired service, or product. The thing is you never get a second chance. Taking the time to determine your needs before you get to Maui allows me to create the kind of portraits desired and create images that will take their place in your family's history. It also lets me determine the costs so you can plan accordingly.
I want to know the last time you had a professional portrait created and if you were satisfied. What style of portrait you're looking for. For example, a traditional portrait is more about the people than the place and so they are larger in the portrait. An environmental portrait includes the people in the location. Accordingly, there is more space around the family and they are smaller in the frame. This style is very popular for those that desire a portrait to be displayed on the wall of their family home. Another style has more animation and creates a different kind of emotion. Knowing how many different poses or breakdowns are needed allows me to get the images created within the time allowed. Every family is unique and has different needs when it comes to photographs. Some want digital files they can keep as family history, many want small Kodak style prints to give to family members, and others want one perfect portrait for the wall.
Most portrait sessions are done at a beautiful beach on the south side in Wailea or Makena. The sunset views are excellent. We will meet at the beach in the parking lot and walk to the beach and get started. The best light is before sunset. Start times will change throughout the year as the sunset changes.
This is an ala carte plan and designed for families with specific needs and that desire the highest quality and service, thorough out the entire process of portrait planning, image creation, and printing.
Session and creation fee is $350. This includes the 6-7 hours of labor required for portrait planning, preparation, actual beach session labor for myself and lighting professional, time editing, processing, and preparing files for review, and the actual post session meeting to review and select portraits. All purchases are ala carte.

The works of art that Doug created for our family represent unique, meaningful and beautiful memories of our time on Maui. They will take pride of place in our home back in Canada.

Our session was unlike anything we had ever experienced. Not one time did we hear, turn your head an inch, shoulders back, chin up or any of the usual comments from a photographer posing a family in an unnatural way.
Doug captured our personalities not just a picture. I knew after the session was over that he would deliver the vision that had been in my mind for so many months and he did not disappoint.
At the preview, my husband and I were both emotional viewing the amazing photographs of our family. It was truly the experience of a lifetime and there are no words to express my gratitude to Doug and his staff for making my dream a reality.

Lynn and I want you to know how much we appreciate and enjoy all of the family pictures you made during our recent visit to Maui. We particularly love the “entire family” picture wherein we are all looking towards the camera. That particular picture has taken its permanent place on our great room mantel. It is beautiful! David could not have selected a better, professional Portraitist. Thank you and your staff very much; particularly your pleasant and pretty wife.
