Last glimpse
Maui is the vacation destination for over 10,000 Humpback whales this season. Whale watching is one of the must do things for locals and visitors. Since they are moving it is important to have a fast shutter speed when creating the image. For that matter so is being stable. If your on a moving boat and taking pictures do not lean or hold on to the rail or gunnels while making photographs. The vibration from the boat will transfer to your body making it hard to be stable. Enjoy the whales everyone. Maui No Ka Oi!
By the way if you have ever thought about what it would be like to snorkel with these gentle giants we offer annual whale swimming adventures in Tonga. This is a small group of islands near Fiji, where the government grants a few boats permits to allow people to swim with the whales. This will be our 10th season leading groups for whale photography workshops.
