Tonga Whale Swim Live-aboard Adventure

September 4-13, 2024

in Ha'apai & Vavau', Tonga

This adventure includes 10 days of luxury liveabaord accommodations and private whale swim charter.    The boat is 80 feet long and the adventure is limited to four guests.

This adventure is the result of 14 years of leading whale swim and photography expeditions.  This is a once in a lifetime crusie.  Accordingly, my goal is to make it the best trip possible.

Based on weather and whales we have the freedom to explore the Ha'apai and Vavau' island groups.

The rules in Tonga are straightforward.  Only a licensed and permitted vessel can put swimmers in the water with whales, and only four swimmers in the water at a time.  Accordingly, the live-aboard will hire a local and licensed operator to provide the whale swimming. Each day after breakfast we will get on the charter boat and look for whales.  Depending upon the action and whether we will have lunch on the whaleboat or return to the big boat.   In the afternoon we will meet the big boat that will have selected the anchorage for the night. As a live-aboard, we have the opportunity and range to visit both the Ha’apai and Vavau’ island groups.  The cruise is 10 days and guests will get on and off the boat in Tonga.
late afternoon or night dives will be available.   Check out the boat.
2024 Sept 4-13 Tonga Whale Swim Charter.  Each day we will be dedicated to observing and swimming with Humpback whales. As Tongan law allows only four in the water at a time with whales this trip is designed for four people. This way each guest has as much time in the water with whales as possible. Diving will be available in the afternoons as whale activity allows.  Those that want can night dive at a site near our anchorage.  As of now, the owner's cabin is booked. Space for two is available.

   Owners Cabin

$2,475 per day.  $24,750 for the charter.

  Captain's Cabin

$2025 per day. $20,250 for the charter.

A deposit of 25% is required by the operator to reserve a cabin.  Payments can be made in as many as three payments but the entire charter must be paid for 6 months prior to crusie detarture date.  All payments after the initial deposit will be held in a bank in the USA until 30 days prior to travel to provide peace of mind.  The operator does not want people to worry about losing their charter fees due to the pandemic.
