Honu World

Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, a.k.a., Honu are an endangered species and by law humans must remain 10 feet away, and not block their ascent to surface. The thing is not every turtle got the message. Since the law was past that we can’t hunt turtles, people have left them alone. As a result turtles have become used to people and don’t see the as a threat. So, sometimes they come very close to snorkelers. This happens frequently so if you’re going snorkeling and a turtle should come close by don’t panic. Remain still, keep your arms to yourself. Let the turtle have its moment and move on. See more Portraits like this here. Please use reef friendly sunscreen
